Second, If you are looking for and EDC knife, something that you will remove and place back in to its sheath multiple times a day, cut boxes with, etc, I would keep looking. I can see why some have knocked the sheath/clip combo, the back side of the clip that attaches to the sheath sits out away from the sheath a bit so when securing to your belt/waste band it can get caught up and stop you from putting it on smoothly. The clip itself has a bit of a hook on the outside portion that hooks in and catches your belt to keep it secure during movement and when drawing the blade.Some recommendations if you purchase…1. Oil the blade. If you wear regularly or everyday it gets a good bit of moisture in the sheath.2. Clean the sheath and handle regularly. It can be a lint trap.3. Train, train, train! Again. It is most likely to be needed in a CQB circumstance when I’m trying to protect my weapon with my right hand and need to draw and deploy the knife with my left to create separation between me and my attacker. Pocket folders are generally useless in this situation as detailed by many police documented reports regardless of the training and familiarity with the knife by its user, hence the need for a fixed blade knife and one one that can be drawn quickly using gross motor skills under physical duress by ones off hand, not strong hand.That is why most who buy this length “cop knife” buy it and how they intend to use it, as a concealed stand off tool. Uniformed police actually buy and use its larger brother with a longer blade as they don’t have to conceal it and vertical orientation on their duty belt or vest is the preferred carry method.Great knife, fair price, good quality sheath and clip, just not the positioning of the sheath for horizontal belt wear, at least for folks like me. Maybe if I was taller or thinner, it would be okay but I’m built about like the average American male these days and live in a south western climate where anything on my belt is going to be next to bare skin. | First, I’d like to say that this is a self defense knife. If you are thinking about purchasing it you should be trained or training to use it. Second, If you are looking for and EDC knife, something that you will remove and place back in to its sheath multiple times a day, cut boxes with, etc, I would keep looking. Buy a Kershaw and keep it moving. You will be much happier with the purchase.With that said I think this and the others in the TDI line are perfect self defense blades. I could go into all the benefits of its design, why its so good, and why I chose it as one of my PDWs, but if you need that info from me you probably have not trained enough to carry this and you should go buy pepper spray or a rape whistle. Ok. I’ll stop now.On to the knife and sheath…The sheath is great. 4 ways to set it up, clip can go on either side for left or right carry and can go either right side up or upside down to carry handle up or down. Pretty basic, but it does what it needs to. I can see why some have knocked the sheath/clip combo, the back side of the clip that attaches to the sheath sits out away from the sheath a bit so when securing to your belt/waste band it can get caught up and stop you from putting it on smoothly. The clip itself has a bit of a hook on the outside portion that hooks in and catches your belt to keep it secure during movement and when drawing the blade.Some recommendations if you purchase…1. Oil the blade. If you wear regularly or everyday it gets a good bit of moisture in the sheath.2. Clean the sheath and handle regularly. It can be a lint trap.3. Train, train, train! Again. If you are not trained or currently training for self defense with a bladed weapon, do not buy this knife. If you are and you do, keep training. Think long and hard about how you will carry it and draw it. Pro tip: resheath it like a samurai sword. Find the sheath with the spine of the knife and draw it through the top of the sheath until the point of the blade is center over the sheath opening and then rock the blade down in to the sheath.4. Also a repeat, if you. want something that multitasks in its use, do not buy this knife.And finally, remember,there are no winners in a knife fight. If you want to win a knife fight bring a gun. Seriously though, carrying a knife for self defense is a serious choice and should you ever need to draw a in knife in defense of yourself there is always the risk of having it used on you. This knife and its design mitigate that risk to a point but the risk still remains. It should be bought and carried as a tool of last resort. Good situational awareness and common sense are your best weapons but should all else fail this is certainly a handy companion. Train hard, train often and stay vigilant. | Very sharp, nice ergos, nice belt clip included. Quality build. As others have said, this is a single purpose knife, not a pocket knife, not a do all, not a knife you’re going to pull out multiple times a day. I’ve been wearing it for a while now and it’s really comfortable even in the sitting position when worn between 12 and 1 next to the belt buckle, unless you’re carrying a firearm then you want it on your non-dominant side as a back up. This is my second TDI. The first one I bought came with a belt attachment that you had to slide your belt through. It was VERY annoying and uncomfortable and I hated it. The knife was great, but the sheath was not well design. They fixed the problem with this belt clip. I will try to comment and update later on its longevity, but it’s very easy to attach to a belt and take off, but it will NEVER pull off when you pull the knife out. It’s well designed and a far better design then they originally had about 10 years ago.On a side note, amazon recommended that I buy this along with a belt clip… being used to this model 10 years ago and only getting a sheath, I assumed the belt clip was sold separately, so I picked it up. Turns out the knife comes with the sheath and belt clip attached… oh well, I guess I have a back up one. I’m not sure what people are talking about though when they say no tools are provided because the extra belt clip I received came with tools, and the actual knife in the box came with the same tool… so I don’t know where they got theirs from, but it’s supposed to come with them. | I gave it 4 stars because of its sheath.However this is what I discovered with it (no instructions come with it), if you either hold the sheath in your hand or on your belt, if you put your thumb on what appears as a thumb rest in front of the blade and let your other fingers grab the hilt of the knife (its handle) and pull this action of the thumb pushing downward in front and fingers pulling upward on the knifes hilt it will come out fairly nicely.It’s not intuitive at first but ‘practice’ it and it will be.I opened up the sheath about 1/32” or less at the very top and maybe a little silicone might help at first in order to break it in for easier, safer and faster withdrawal from the sheath.They could have put more to attention of details on the sheath or a simple diagram in the package to help but… maybe KaBar figured the buyer for ‘this tool’ better be sharper then the knife itself. Some people have reviews about knocks offs. That is no ones fault but their own for buying from private sellers.The sheath is okay too. However, the clip is a bit odd. Some may like it, some may not. I personally don’t have a problem with it, other than it is not the most secure thing. I wear a reinforced gun belt made by Alien Gear, and it clips on just fine, but it is far from completely secure. It could be ripped off with the proper force, but honestly, you would just rip the knife out first anyways. I may invest in a custom kydex sheath, but for now, it works great. You can swap the metal clip from side to side if you need to. There is one review complaining about bending the metal. I tried with a gerber and it takes a ton of force to do so. If you bend this metal, it’s your own fault.I highly recommend you get this product if you are so much as contemplating the idea of carrying a fixed knife for personal defense. Also, take some training. Please, take some training. At the very least, spend time unsheathing and re-sheathing it, as well as a practicing a proper grip.I honestly cannot think of anything negative to say here. Excellent for off-hand draw to defend against someone trying to take your side arm on your strong side. MUCH faster than trying to draw and open a folding knife under stress during a fight, which is just silly. The blade comes from the factory very sharp. I have sharpened it over time and it does well. The sheath belt clip is reversible, you will only need a very small hex tool to change it.You must practice drawing and re-holstering, because if you miss your sheath while re-holstering this knife will cut through clothing and flesh effortlessly.The angle of the blade in relation to the handle makes it easy to conceal on your inner belt behind the magazines on your duty belt. It also makes it comfortable for sitting as there is no tall handle poking you. It is undetectable under a t-shirt for daily carry.The index finger cut-out in the handle makes for a remarkably safe grip with no hilt necessary, and slashing and stabbing easy. The knife will not slip out of your hand.The knife could sell for less and I’m sure the profit margin is considerable, but on the other hand it’s worth it. You get what you pay for. This is an awesome Karambit. It is coated with a non reflective coating. Fits perfectly in the hand. But one of the things I didn’t know until I had it in my hand is about the sheath. It has two notches. One on either side. It is meant to be kept almost loose in your front pocket. Either one. But when you draw it, you grab it from in your pocket by the ring , and as you pull it out the sheath’s cut-out catches the inside of your pocket and you pull the knife from that. It gets to the outer edge of your pocket before the blade is ever even seen. It never touches the pocket or any clothing. Totally incognito… also great price. | This thing came right of the box sharp AF! It feels great in my front pocket and love how it carries in with my EDC equipment. With ka-bar you know you’re getting great quality. I’ve used it out on the range and in a few training scenarios. Great reaction time to get it out of the pocket. The speed is great on it.
